25k for an elite tome?!?!
So I was standing in LA a second ago and saw someone spamming an Elite War Tome for 25k. What the heck, are people willing to pay that much? If it let you learn any elite skill then heck yea I would pay 25k. 25k is worth not having to run some insane mission where I may or may not get the correct random spawn I need to cap a skill. But, we are talking about an item that only lets us learn a skill we've already gotten before.

ive seen tomes go for 5k? same thing as going to trainer but it only cost 1k. tomes were made to make unlocking skills and developing the skill hunter title easier, ppl cant see that.

I was gonna make a topic about this. I wanted an elite necro tome (just to see what it was like) and the guy tells me he expects 40k O_O
I guess I keep forgetting one of the golden rules of guild wars: never buy stuff when it just comes out. When white dye came out, it costed like 40k a pop and people were bathing in it regardless. Brown dye costed I think 15k, now it costs 100g. There are always people who want to jump on things so they can be the first to have it... mini asuras, jade wind orbs, etc. I doubt the price will stay this high as any thinking person who doesn't buy gold/farm all day wont be paying 25k+ to save the 10 minutes it would take to cap the skill. |

Sigurd, you must have just started playing this game. Every time a new item has been introduced in game, it's price starts out over it's value, because of it's novelty. Then it evens out. Every single time.
Mini pets. Totem axes. Kepkhet's Refuges. Sup runes for a brand new class. Amulet of the Mists / Book of Secrets. Now these tomes. |

This shouldn???t really surprise me!
My Ele has all skills and elite skills from all 3 campaigns, and 250 skill points. If I need a skill I???ll but it, if I need an elite skill I???ll cap it. Do not pay these ridiculous prices, they will drop! |

Do tomes let you learn any skill in any campaign that you have already unlocked i.e. if I make a prophecies char but really want those factions/nightfall skills early on in the game (before I get to LA) I could use tomes? I haven't used one yet so not exactly sure if its all skills from all campaigns you own or just the one your character is in. But if it does allow that then they are a bit more useful.
As for the prices for elite tomes I think they'll be around 5-10k in the end. Some bosses may be easy to get to and cap, but I remember trying to hench out to mineral springs to cap a few bosses and spending about 2 hours doing it. Not to mention some of the prophecies bosses don't always spawn. Fighting from Camp Rankor all the way almost to the northern exit of Snake Dance only to find my boss didn't spawn that time.... annoying. I'd of paid 20k to save my self the 4 tries it took to finally cap that boss. |

at the moment ppl are paying huge amounts for the novelty and for the ability to get elites they couldnt get due to them being near end of a chapter for e.g. i got a rit tome and used to to get me VwK ( i hate factions) but ya i only payed 3k for it so ppl should realy stop being greedy

Well IDK but I unlocked most elites through faction so 25K for "free" elites on a char=bingo.

Tbh I'd rather use the Sig of Cap and cap it myself - it would probably take longer to farm the 24k difference than it would take to cap the skill. |

I could create a new monk and pimp him out in what ever noob area I start in with a simple Elite tome or a few. No hassels about getting a dorks run to granite to mineral springs just to cap SoJ. or having to henchie my way to a boss and pray that it spawns within the first few. 25k could be extreme but at the same time having run countless guildies and toon myself thru, I would likely buy one rather then run a toon thru again! |

I'm trying to take full advantage of the prices of these Tomes right now. Lockpicks are expensive (and fragile). Ran across an Elite Warr Tome and got 15k for it, then got a Elite Ranger Tome and thought of the Punishing Shot cap which can be a pain, asked 20k for it and got it. Even so, I'm at a big time net loss of gold since the weekend started. Locked chests are goldsinks on steroids.
